The Magic of Eggs

There is something magical about going to the henhouse, looking for eggs.

Gathered in their own little basket, I love to sit them on the counter, and just look.

They can sit for days like that, as long as it isn't summer, and I don't have to wash them until I  have

time to nestle them within their little cartons.

Eggs are a wonder of nature, for many reasons. They are contained safely within their cellular

structure for several weeks while remaining alive. A big bonus for city dwellers is that you can keep a

nice little handful of chickens easily with a portable coop, and you don't have to own a rooster for the

hens to lay. When you decide to incubate(if you have a rooster, the eggs will be viable), you may

collect the eggs for up to ten days before they must go inside.

When cleaned by hand with a moist paper towel, the eggs don't absorb much water, and retain their

firmness, with lovely deep gold yolks. The taste is superb, and the dishes made with them fluffy, with

a nice springy texture.

I always keep one or two roosters in my coop, so most of eggs are alive, and my hens very productive, as they are sexually active. Roosters also add a calmness to the coop, as they oversee the pecking order, and are always on the lookout for predators. When the rooster finds a tasty bug or treat, he immediately calls over his girls so that they can have first dibs. He is very protective of the eggs and henhouse, as well, and will do his best to protect all in his care.

Contrary to popular belief, the roosters will not eat the chicks, if the environment of the henhouse safe, clean, and there is enough to eat. I have had up to three roosters at a time covering forty hens, and the roosters will call to the chicks, and give them food.

The hens are very protective, and, in time they will introduce the flock to the biddies, when they feel everyone has had a chance to see and smell them, but not get too close. She is a loving mother, and the biddies sit on her, poke out of her feathers, and peck at her until they are too big to do so. She is very tolerant, and will fight as hard as she can to save her brood if she thinks she has a chance.

I believe the roosters know their own chicks, and have seen never had a rooster try to attack or eat his own. The only early deaths I've seen in six years was when I bought some young ones, and when I introduced them to the flock, the rooster did not recognize them, and tried to cover them at too early an age. After the first one was killed, it did not happen again. There was great sorrow and quiet among the flock the entire day.

(Can you spot the chick?)

Every night I check on my flock, making sure they are closed up and accounted for, and I talk to them each by name. They will cluck back at me, especially the rooster, who makes sure it is me coming in the henhouse at night. I thank them for their eggs, and also do energy work on them when I can.
The result, is a lovely, vibrant egg that some peole say makes them feel better and happier after eating our eggs.

Besides the benefit of eating vibrant, healthy meat, let's look at other positives of buying from the farm or owning poultry -
  • hens can move about, eating a wide variety of healthy groceries, and undergo less stress than from being all heaped up together, with their beaks cut off, and not able to have any exercise or fresh air;
  • hens have a nesting box or space away from others to lay their eggs in private, which also gives more health and less stress to both hen and egg;
  •
  • there is much less disease;
  •
  • very few antibiotics, if any are used, which means a higher grade product for you and your children
  •
  • eggs in the store are over four months old before they even get there. They roll down wet conveyer belts, and the live egg tissue absorbs the nasty water inside, which is evidenced by the thin, runny whites when you cook. Farm eggs are usually only a week old in the produce stand, at most.
  •
  • you are supporting local business and helping to keep farm produce in your neighborhood, as well as giving kids a chance to earn a small income and learn about raising their own flock.

I have put much of this mildly, but you get the point. If at all possible, you should try raising some

chickens yourself. Watching them becomes a meditation, and children love to hold and tame their

flock. The chickens will follow you around, as well, coming to the windows looking for you, (and

your table scraps) and offer a meditative repose when things aren't going well. There's nothing like

just sitting, listening to the flock go about their routine, methodically scratching, pecking and

chasing insects and each other. It helps me to get inside myself, and to find an anchor in an ever-

changing world. Just like magic.

Energetic Exchange, Part III

Wild American ginseng has been found to have the highest resonancy of the different ginsengs, but all are valuable in raising the body's charge, and even claiming to help one break the addiction of chemicals in processed foods, (http://www.longevitywarehouse.com/Articles.asp?ID=505). (It takes about 300 roots to equal one pound of ginseng.)

Of particular value is to look at the work of researchers such as electromagnetic energy expert, John Hutchinson, and researcher Leonard Horowitz to begin to see the true power of the Sun. Dr. Horowitz discourses on the sun's vibrational rate as 528 HZ, or the frequency of love. This also relates to Dr. Emoto's work showing how water retains vibration. Dr. Horowitz combines water with this vibration from the sun into   a healing too, he calls hydrosonics. ( http://www.528records.com/pages/528hz-sound-miraculously-cleaned-oil-polluted-water-gulf-mexico-according-new-study-canadian-r )

Imagine, then, that when we are eating fresh, whole plant foods, we are ingesting love. Something to think about!

But, back to Nate, and the power of connecting to the plants on a personal level. For the Native American, there is a understanding of the essence of Creator being present in every thing around, above and under us. There is a sacred reverence that occurs when we raise our own foods, be it plant or animal kingdom, because we play a part in the survival of these gifts from Nature. The work is hard, underpaid, and highly rewarding from an ethereal standpoint for which is there is no true monetary value. When we are part of the struggle of that survival, daily working with, checking on, feeding, watering, assisting in the natural process of things, we truly understand how sacred life truly is, and we then value the taking of it more. When we allow our children the privilege of creating and earning by the sweat of their brow, then they will respect where that came from, as well as garner more respect for themselves. A kinship occurs between livestock and human, gardener and garden, fruit and the hand that picks it. This, my friend, is true energetic exchange.

Container and Recycled Gardens

Container Gardening
Live in an apartment, condo, or only have a small space that gets a decent amount of sun? Don't fret, use containers! All the big box stores, and your local garden shops sell great potting mixes, soil amendments, garden soil to put in them, so get crackin'! Here are some of the best ideas I've seen lately...
The Earth Box
http://earthbox.com/index.php/earthbox-systems/the-original-earthbox-gardening-system/earthbox-gardening-system.html
These guys have everything you need to get started. The Earth Box is the ultimate container; you can even purchase one that will grow corn!
If you're crafty and cool, read this blog on how to make your own from scratch! Awesome!

Fabric Pots
These smart pots in particular are really cool and great to use in a variety of limited space settings,
http://www.smartpots.com/
Or, use these, which are made from recycled materials, http://www.aurorainnovations.org/rootpots.html

http://www.woollypocket.com/  These look awesome!

Recycled Materials
At school recently, we made great strawberry barrels from old plastic barrels. Personally, I would use wood, but do the best you can with what you have available.
Barrels
Here is a great site for barrel ideas, http://homesteadbloggersnetwork.com/repurposed-whiskey-barrels-for-strawberry-plants/

Gutters  - What a great idea for those sunny spots in a corner somewhere. No ground space needed!     Using walls as a growing space will also be a great heat sink, too.

Tires - I love the idea of reusing tires for planters.  This also conserves water and is a form of stack gardening. Apparently they are only toxic when burned, so check it out...
This below has lots of great ideas, as well. The possibilities are endless....

Energetic Exchange, part 2

If you're curious to know how much energy different parts of the body resonate, let's look at the work of Anthony Robbins Living Health, with Dr. Robert Young.
Liver 50-60     Heart 65-70     Brain 72-78     Colon 58-63     Stomach 58-65

The secret for a high powered body is to consume alkaline, high quality foods. The higher the megahertz, the more our cells chelate, or resonate, the more optimum the overall health and performance of our bodies. We also then can begin to function at a higher level in the emotional, spiritual, and intuitive spheres.

Dr. Robert Young, a forerunner in the studies of alkalinity on the body, believes that most fruits, being high in sugar, are therefore acidic, and need to taken in at a minimum. Alkaline fruits, however, are; lemons, limes, tomatoes, avocados, and peppers. Keeping our body tissues in an alkaline pH supports a thriving, vibrant system. Proper pH is the only way to keep disease at bay, as germs and disease are only a response to a weakening system.

Our body requires a 7.3 pH for optimum health, which is maintained by eating highly energetically charged, alkaline foods such as any freshly juiced vegetables, sprouted grains like spelt, quinoa, aramanth or buckwheat, which are the main alkaline grains, and especially so after sprouting, also cucumber, onion, garlic and most vegetable tops.

Eating yeast laden bread is another great destructor of the human body. There are many studies, especially in Japan that show that breast cancer always presents with calcium oxalic acid, a non-human by product that most fungi create. ( http://www.dreddyclinic.com/diet/alcaline/sick_and_tierd_2.htm )

Let's look at some foods that aid the body in alkalinity post digestion ~
goat milk                    eggs                    whey        almonds       most herbs       beans that are green or sprouted    peas     potatoes
plain yogurt                natural sweeteners like cane sugar, honey, brown rice syrup        fresh coconut products

I will praise and extol the benefits of fresh goat milk products and eggs in another post...

Now, some foods to avoid ~
hard cheeses         most sweeteners             alcohol         carbonated drinks     meat        beans like pintos, mung, navy, lentils, black         processed mustard, ketchup, mayo dried coconut products  breads and their by-products

So, let's look at the energetic value of some foods....

Live, fresh wheat grass - 70 -90        Raw almonds 40-50     fresh veggies 70-90

Essential Oils, while not foods, are wonderful, natural supplements that aid in many areas of our health.
Young Essential Oils are the best I know of, so pure that many can be ingested. Here's just a sample of their oils frequencies due to quality of product ~
Sandalwood 96      Angelica 85     Myrrh 105      Lavender 118     Helicrysum 181
A rose  - 320 MHz  and every part of a rose is edible, btw, but I'll discuss edible medicinal plants in another post.

Unfortunately, many wonderful foods are not publically listed, as it would bring down an attack from the government if we offered assistance to We the People by explaining how to fight cancers and disease through something as 'simple' and easily accessible as plants, especially ginseng and foods containing laetrile. Many researchers and scientists have died doing so. See http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/Laetrile.html for further information.

Also note that cell phones give off microwaves in the range of 500- 900 MHz, which leads to different levels of neuron destruction and brain damage over time. Scientists are now seeing the potential of panax or red ginseng in combating the issues caused by long term cell phone  usage.(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3659519/ )

Energetic Exchange - The Frequency of Foods has Health Altering Effects on the Body and Soul

There is a magic exchanged when we eat something fresh, untainted by processing and artificial ingredients. Watching my children bend to pick the shiny, red Roma or sun kissed Cherokee purple tomato that is still pumping with nutrients and food made from chloroplasts catching the sun brings such joy to my heart. There is no sweeter, tangy to the tongue taste than popping warm raspberries from the wild cane by the pasture's edge or steep hillside.
Why is that, you ask?

It's worth more, mom, because I picked it. I climbed to the top of that muddy hill, got scratched trying to get 'em, and now they're mine! ~ 12 yr old Nate on why they taste better

Foods picked at the height of ripeness, eaten as soon as they are produced, fresh without processing, have a higher vibration, contain higher nutritional value, and their energy is maintained. This means the more whole, fresh local foods you make, and/or buy to eat, the higher your cellular structure will resonate, which means better health and well being.

Do you ever wonder why you can eat and eat at a place like a fast food pizza buffet or chain restaurant, and it takes forever to get full? Or when you bring 'fresh' produce home from the chain super market it doesn't seem to have much texture, flavor or fulfill you? By the time you get your 'fresh' food home, it is possibly only   giving off 25% of its possible energetic value. Let's compare some of the foods typically eaten by Americans.

For example, canned foods give off a '0', or have no vibrational frequency, and are dead. A Big Mac registers 5 MHz. The major organs, however, when in typical health, give off 70 MHz.A sick body resonates  at less than 60, with a tumor carrying a mere 30 MHz. So, if you are eating foods with less energetic frequencies than your organs, then you aren't giving your body the electrical charge it needs to function like the effective and powerful machine it is.

Most of  us know when the car tank is getting low; there are warning lights that go off, excess smoke starts to come out of the exhaust, and the engine sputters, eventually shutting down. The same is true with our bodies as they run out of fuel, only we aren't typically taught what food gives us the best electrical charge. It has been proven that our body is electric, by Robert O. Becker, which revolutionized how we saw our bodies, and the potential for healing through different forms of energy exchange. Look at the invention of the defibrillator and  MRI scans. Pay attention to research being conducted around the world to see how to harness the body's energy to run devices without the need for batteries. Imagine what lies ahead once that work has been complete on taking energy from the heart, blood flow, even lung contractions to power devices. Tell me again what you 'do'?

After doing all manner of studies in the metaphysical, spiritual, healing energies, shamanism and the like for over twenty years, I have devised a way to organize my readings. Here is a write up of what I currently offer in the form of a distant reading, without any face to face contact. I rather enjoy being one on one, doing the healing and channeling work, but in this day and age, one has to be versatile. I have enjoyed being under the radar, but Creator has deemed that I should get out to the public more, and to be available for any and all sorts of needs the can be met. So, here I am.
Let me know what you think, of if you'd like a reading or healing session. Typically the work is done on a donation basis, as that is the way of those on the red road.

You can also check out my developing web site,http://thecreatordeems.yolasite.com/ for more information.

Thank you...

Aura Bio Feedback Reading

The Aura-Bio Feedback Reading is an original concept created to show a holistic picture of an individual. ABF incorporates techniques developed and studied in over twenty years of research of alternative healing that officially started after the author was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Modern conventional medicine offered only painful, artificial and intrusive ‘remedies’.
What follows is a result of years of searching for the true meaning of health, well-being and disease, divinely inspired to be an individualized reading that will allow the client a new knowledge base with which to view his or her path to healing. Atsila Agisdii is not a doctor, nor does she claim to be. Instead, she hopes to open doorways to help you heal (to set right or repair). She does not claim to cure, only to make suggestions that may or may not resonate within your being. This non-invasive, experiential reading is a work in progress, and is not set in stone. It evolves as Atsila meditates on your auric field, and connects to your spirit guides, as Creator Deems fit best for you in that moment. The rest is up to you.

Sections of this diagnostic tool contain one or more of the following components:

Emotive overview- a look into the overall condition, emotional state and general character of the individual; done by reading of the aura, facial features and connecting to spirit guides
Current angelic sponsor - intuited connection to the client’s Harmony angel, drawn from the sacred Harmony Angel Cards by Angela McGerr.  This will show the client which angel to call upon to help address a current emotional situation and/or physical obstacle. Sometimes the guides will suggest a god/goddess, spirit guide, or other helper from the ethers. I will then include these names  here, with an explanation or link.
Herbal and/or nutritional suggestions- these are merely names of particular natural, live food items that may pop up in the reading that can help with a current need of the body. Take these at your own risk, knowing that the author has asked for your highest good at the reading, and are merely suggestions.
Essential Oils-much has been written about the value and properties of essential oils for healing, strengthening the intuitive and spiritual self because they are ‘alive’ and carry the essence/life force of the particular plant. The author uses only Young’s Essentials because she can attest to their superior quality and ingestibility for quick results. If it is merely a topic oil, Aura Cacia is a good brand for external use only.
Animal totem – gathered from Ted Andrews books, internet research and channeled information, this will explain an animal that is important as you transition into the future, what some of its traits are, and how it may help you evolve.
Color therapy – based on indigenous beliefs regarding how parts of the body are correlated with certain colors when healthy, if there is a lack or overabundance of a particular color or colors in the client’s aura, then particular colors are suggested to help balance the overall energy field. This author has studied and recommends googling Rosalyn Bruyere’s Wheels of Light for further information.
Crystals – myriad books are written discoursing the value, importance, and healing properties of crystals, which have been utilized across millennia. The Crystal Bible, by Judy Hall is a top pick, with this author’s being (anything by Melody)Love is in the Earth Series as beginner resources. Know that this author may recommend a stone for different purposes than typically known for; this is a wonderful trait of crystals-they have a way of becoming what the client needs.

Permawhat?

That's usually what folks say when they ask me what I 'do'. Well, I write, have a holistic, metaphysical forum, and am studying to complete an associates in Horticulture. My interests are organic farming, especially small scale urban and rural permaculture, sustainable living, forest gardening, lasagna gardening, layered composting, IPM, fabric pots, biodynamics, crystal chelation in soil and in container gardening, hypertufa, blessing the land, and working with plant and animal energy.

Say what? Farmers can't feed the world using organic methods. My daddy's daddy farmed on this land, and I aint a doin' it any diff'rnt...ain't nothin' wrong with fertilizers, Hell, we need it...Did you know you can drink Round Up..it ain't hurtin' nothin' but weeds....
Yep, they said it.

And, don't even call your local ag agent and ask how fresh your eggs have to be to sell them from your micro-farm to the public, or on average how old eggs are when you buy them in the local grocery store in comparison, because they won't tell you. Typically, eggs you buy in the store are over four months old from the time they were laid, and the local farmer just gathered hers the week or two before you bought 'em, if not the day you picked them up. Just sayin'...but we'll discuss livestock and poultry in a different post.

Today we're discussing why 'everybody' now wants to do their own gardening, and some of the many ways you can, too.

Good, wholesome produce costs more to buy, and it should. It takes a great deal of time and effort to prepare the soil as organically as one is able, to tend the produce, keep it bug free or to use as much IPM as possible, to water, the manpower to do all of the above. It is a good idea, then, to do small scale farming at home, and save money over the long run.

Processed foods are bad for you on so many levels, so returning to more natural, wholesome food sources that you create are much better for your family. Even when you buy fresh foods at stores, you have no idea what was sprayed on it, how it was 'decorated' or 'preserved' even while being in the store. Waxes, bug sprays, etc. not to mention who touched it while in the store, how many times it was dropped...and you have no way to know what was in the truck just before the food you're eating was transported in it, as well.

Gardening also adds to your living space, as outdoor rooms are becoming more and more popular, and it is an excellent classroom for your children, as well as a way to re-connect as a family. There's nothing like picking your own fruits and vegetables with your kids and letting them help prepare the dishes with you.

With all of the environmental dangers out there, adding to the diagnoses of people daily, what a great way to keep your loved ones safer when you study a more organic and natural way to eat. It then becomes a way of life, as your research expands into the way you live, the things you buy, how you spend your free time im improved, which will increase your health. You are also adding to the future, as recycling, composting, and simplifying your lifestyle with less use of carbon are making things better for the current and next generation.

See, Container Gardening, here,  http://thecreatordeems.blogspot.com/ for more info.

Permaculture, Forest and Rain Gardens...
are a lifestyle development, a change for the better. This is all about how to create a space to live, how to stay in the flow of nature. Forest, or stack gardening is a great use of vertical space, especially when the growing space is small and confined. It can be as simple as putting edibles together of different heights so that there is a canopy, and understory and then groundcover.
http://spiralseed.co.uk/forest-gardening-in-the-city/
Then, there are fancy custom stack gardens...
http://alegriafresh.com/shop/vertical-gardens.html

Rain gardens are a really awesome idea, and go along with xeriscapes, as well, which is a big trend out west, as everyone is now scrambling for water, practically wherever they live.
A rain garden is a way to make use of a dry creek, mud hole or other place where water bogs up or collects by using plants that are native, and is a way to help conserve water.
A xeriscape is similar, but utilizes very dry, high drought areas, as a water conserving alternative to turf. See more about this  here, http://www.houzz.com/xeriscape.

Hopefully you can see how this is art, an act of love, a way to commune with nature, to enjoy with your own loved ones as you create these special places together.  Many, if not all, of the plants chosen are also edible, permanent, and the space can be enjoyed for years to come.

Tending the Garden

Gardener, Know thy soil!

Gardener - n. one who tends to or cultivates a garden; one who maintains a garden created by a landscape designer

In over thirty years of planting, I've learned that the key to success with growing anything is understanding where your plants are putting their feet.

But, that's not the first step.
Initially, there are three questions the potential gardener must answer, or, as I like to call them, the Sacred 'W's -Why do you want to plant, Where is the space you wish to use, and What are you planting, anyway?
So, do you walk around in the yard one day and notice for the first time that there's a huge, empty spot in the back that might be good for something besides weeds? Maybe your family is expecting and you decide new eating habits are in order. Perhaps you live in the mountains and your yard is mostly slope and you're tired of erosion, and want to see what landscape options you have. Like many people, maybe you live in a small space in the city, and feel frustrated at the lack of space or food options, and don't know where to start growing or even how. Figure that out first, and the rest will come much easier. To see why people have started this upsurge of permaculture, organic gardening, rain gardens, victory and forest gardens, click here http://thecreatordeems.blogspot.com/2013/06/permawhat.html

Now you are ready to walk around your outdoor living space and see what options you have. Note to self: any plant that bears edible food will require lots of sun. Duh. Like 60, 90-120 days of growing time on average. You can expect the plants to require direct sunlight 50-75% of that growing time, with an average of  8 to 12 hours of sunlight a day.

Well, you may have a mostly shady spot, or live in the woods. You may have a nearby stream or no access to water. The ground might be rocky, sandy, red clay or rich, loamy soil. So, all of these things will have to be considered.  For ideas or how to use the space you have, click here ____.

At this point, you can consider what works best for your available space. The cool thing is that most of us have several 'zones' or areas for planting; indoors and out, full shade, part-sun, full sun so that there can be a variety of foliage in your overall space. If you'd like to learn more about how sunlight conditions affect different plants, click here ____.

Many people, especially in the world of business, hire a garden/landscape designer or landscape architect to put the three 'W's together in an aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly plan that gets the client the best garden possible for his/her budget. Other folks, who mean well, but really haven't studied horticulture or have any real field experience ramble about at garden centers, Southern States or the big box stores and pick out some plants they like, for whatever reason, then bring the purchases home and stick them in the ground. These same folks wring their hands, and wonder why a couple of weeks later that, " I don't have any luck with plants. I can't get anything to grow."

Developing our higher self, or spiritual self is done in much the same way. You could say that the Divine Creator is the garden/landscape designer, and we each become the gardener of our physical and spiritual development.

Some of us read all sorts of materials on world religion, spirituality, the metaphysical, self-help, discovering inner peace, connecting to the Higher Self, etc. Others of us learn by watching those with more experience; either by studying with a mentor, joining a particular church, learning and studying a daily meditational or spiritual practice, listening to meditational music or books on tape, or just going within, to the silence.

Then there are the weekend warriors, those that are just too busy to devote regular time to personal growth and development, randomly seeking direction here and there when the mood strikes or something really 'bad' is going on in their immediate present moment.

How your life develops, and what bounty you reap, depends on your consistency, time allowed and the depth of attention paid to your belief system. How closely do you look at yourself, listening to the small voice in the quiet of the Higher Self for answers to how to meet your needs? How often do you thank those in your life for the services they provide, for the unconditional love they bestow, for the support given by even the simplest of human interactions? Do you hold hands as a family and pray over the food that is nourishing your bodies, giving thanks for the animals and plants that gave their lives that you might live, and the hands that put the food from farm to table?

What we give is what we get, and what we reap shall be sown, and as above, so below. Path Weaver was always telling us Red Fox Sisters that. I do my best to try and remember that. Sometimes I fail miserably.

This is the success of failure of the gardener.

To really excel at gardening, to create a work of beauty, functionality and harvest the highest  plant yield, you have to get in the garden. That means every damn day, dude. Now, it is sometimes OK to take a day off here and there, but for the most part, you have to be present.

You've done the research, picked out what will grow in the zone you picked out, your amended the soil, made those lovely raised beds or hoed the row, put the best seedlings in the ground or planted the best seeds, watered well. Now you're just going to walk away and leave it to chance? You are f'in crazy.

My 84 year old mother, God bless her, walks the rows, every day, putting her wrinkly, gnarled hands in the soil, crumbling the topsoil around the poking hypocotyl, talking to the cotyledons, sprinkling water around afterwards, mumbling something about the soil's too hard, I tilled while the ground was too wet, I didn't put enough space between the rows, the rows are crooked, I planted to early, too late, didn't add enough lime, put in too much Black Cow or mushroom compost, blaa, blaa, blaa.

Nevermind that before I planted, I walked the space involved, chanting prayers, sprinkling tobacco or corn meal around the perimeter, thanking and  asking for permission from the Earth Mother, that the worms might come and live in this space especially, that the water would be adequate, that the sun would shine consistently, that the neighboring trees would not be cruel and overly shade the tomato plants this year, that the weather would be warm enough early on so that the seedlings would get a good start, that I wouldn't be tilling or breaking earth in a sacred spot that shouldn't be disturbed, and that the Creator would bless the work of my hands and the sweat of my brow.

Nevermind that I talked to each seed or seedling while I held it in my hand before planting, and thanked it for giving its life to feed my family, for agreeing to share its nutrients and benefits that my boys might grow big and strong and their bellies full in the deep of winter, and that my mother could have the joy of watching how beautiful everything would grow by leaps and bounds from her gentle touch.

Nevermind that I'm left-handed and prone to do things a little crooked. Sigh...

Every day we walk the rows, scouting for an increase in pests before they take over the entire green bean rows, weeding in between the corn's knobby feet so their nutrients and water aren't leached by the straggly, stemmy unproductive varmits, stopping here and there with our garden tools to scratch the earth when its too hard from a vicious summer rain, or days of sun without release, poking fingers here and there in the cool rows to see if we need to hand water, checking leaves for tell-tale discoloration indicating nutrition deficiency or mold and rot.

Every few weeks I have to "put it by", rolling between the rows with my big wheel cultivator, a hand pushed little plow that forces dirt back up on the side of the rows to help with erosion, mixing compost and manure that was side dressed several days ago, and semi broken down so the roots have better access to it after it's pushed closer to the plant.

We can't expect great results if we don't give great effort.

If I don't dedicate myself to several hours a day of reading on the latest healing modalities, scientific discoveries, listen to podcasts by the upcoming intuitive healers and holistic practitioners, how can I develop my craft?

If I don't meditate, sit in practice several times a week, then how will I know when Creator is giving me guidance, and when it is the ego struggling to maintain its close minded grip?

Mary, how does your garden grow?

Sacredness of Doubt

I am always surprised at the anger that skeptics display when I present myself as an energy worker or channel. As I work to develop my business and credibility, I know these are the somewhat beneficial creatures of the spiritual garden.

People as a whole are often frightened of these much needed creatures in a garden setting, and tend to stomp or smash them, if they don't run the other way first. The insects are just doing their jobs meanwhile; hunting aphids, protecting their nests or young, preying on garden parasites - and we  often frighten them first. Some examples of these would include- bees, wasps,  Damsel bugs, assassin bugs, green lacewing - to name a few. And who doesn't kill on sight any spiders or snakes, regardless of its size, name or colorings? Any gardener worth his weight in  worm poop will create an environment to actually nurture these somewhat aggressive 'bugs', as they truly aid the garden's infrastructure.

The same is true of a doubting Thomas. It is actually a sign of intelligence to question the integrity of a hypothesis we haven't proven for ourselves, or perhaps seen in action. It brings me great joy to struggle along with the angry, abandoned inner child trapped within the wounded adult's soul until I can find a way inside to offer unconditional love, peace and perhaps even joy.

It is one thing to question, to ask for understanding or more clarity on a topic, yet quite another to put down, insult and blatantly defamate someone's character due to unresolved anger. If someone wishes to ask for explanations and references, I will do my best to cite scientific research on the type of work I do, offer complementary practitioners as resources, or to give reference to appropriate books. If someone tells me they don't believe me, that is fine.

As an empath, I have to be so careful around people in general, because if I am not grounded and entrenched in my spiritual practice before getting around those in emotional distress, I digest and internalize their emotions as my own. Then their emotions become mine, we are both agitated and serious conflict can occur.

My experience has been that people who decry and insult my natural born talents (or curse, depending on how you look at it), have suffered a serious wrong in their early years. This wounded inner child has harbored these deep hurts for many years, and this child, or children depending on how many hurts occurred over time until adulthood, rules the emotions of the adult.

In particular, it tends to stem from the person being told as a child that angels, ghosts, entities, etc. didn't exist, when the child clearly did see something in his closet, or grandpa at the foot of his bed, or a little angel next to him on the school bus seat.

Children are so pure and innocent, full of faith in their world, and having the crystal vision of a sacred soul that is still fresh from Creator that they are able to 'just be', accepting what they see as true. We, as a carbon dense, emotionally wounded adult feel we have to tell our children how and what to think, when to think it, what is appropriate, and what is not. Living out of fear, we think controlling the child will keep them safe, breaking the spirit will calm him down. Yes, this is stemming from love, but is misguided because we move into doubt, created by fear, and away from faith in the Divine, and no longer trusting our inner Divine guidance or intuition of our Higher Self.

Here is where the intuition begins to corrode, as the child learns he must second guess every feeling he has, because he must continue to be wrong so that the parent remains 'right' or in control. Sometimes the conscience is destroyed, as well as the intuition because the parent continually goes against what is natural law, so that the child learns unethical behavior, is covered in toxic shame, and loses a sense of self.

As these children go through life, they then seek to damage or destroy anything or one they come in contact with anyone who dares to speak truth, because then it forces the inner child to look inside, to the place where the soul sits, and truth resides, and that beautiful place is filled with pain and abandonment.

I often use the movie Powder from 1995 as an example of this. He is so gentle, magical, and special that the others can't stand his innocence and closeness to the life force. So, what happens? He is killed. I have often felt this way, cursed for my extra-sensory gifts, because people hate me for being able to see inside, to know their truths. However, it is only through  being vulnerable that we can connect to the Divine, and to each other.

When I " read" you, I don't have to sit in front of you, ask you any questions, even know what you look like, if you will email me your name and birthdate. I resonate with vibronics, what your body resonates with, the pictures, images, symbols, sounds, spirit guides, animal totems, sky walkers, sacred geometry- whatever resonates around your being. I love to look at your pictures, sit with you, chat, but the many readings done in the past year over the whole world are done solely from a full name and birthdate only. Sometimes I may have to ask you to give me permission to do a reading, or to ask your gatekeeper to please allow me access to your auric field, but very little else is required.

This is why I love a doubting Thomas. You so full of anger, hurt, covered in shame and guilt, you Need a loving person to comfort you with messages from the angelic realm, sharing memories and secrets that I could not possibly know. Just as Thomas was visited by Christ, and he touched the wounds, then he went forth to preach to all nations. When I sit in the quiet, and tell you that Charlie is here with me, and when you were hurting, or sad or being abused, he would come and comfort you when no one else would, and that this was your spirit guide, that you weren't imagining things or hearing voices, and the years of pent up anger, fear and grief roll forth, it is worth EVERY cruel comment I've ever endured as a practicing intuitive/healer.
When I can hold your hand, or hug you while you pour out that hidden pain, relief, shame and whisper lovingly to you, "God heard you. He sent Charlie to help you while you suffered through your life struggles to evolve," it takes away my breath, and I am truly humbled by the Divine power and love of Creator God.

So, I will tend my apiaries, walk around the snake sunning on a rock, and bring in praying mantis egg sacs to be nurtured and until  they safely hatch, burst out and swarm the kitchen counter and open windows to be free.

Got bugs?
